Skid Row name Justin Sargent as their new singer, release a Who cover and announce 2027 shows after a lengthy search for a frontman.

Skid Row have named Justin Sargent as their new lead singer and introduced the lineup with a recording of The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” The band announced the appointment on 29 October, with the single reaching streaming services today, 30 October 2026. An official video accompanies the release.

A worldwide search ends close to home

The appointment arrives as Skid Row mark their 40th anniversary, following more than two years away from the stage. In the band’s statement, the musicians describe months of rehearsals and time together before confirming Sargent for the role.

Sargent has described how manager Robby Hoffman saw him perform at a charity event in New Jersey. Contact followed the next day, beginning the process that eventually led to his appointment.

Sargent brings experience as a Broadway singer and actor. He has explained that he suggested the Who song when the musicians were considering a cover, and that the response was immediate. The first release is therefore a choice he helped shape, as well as an introduction to his voice.

A familiar producer, a new voice

Nick Raskulinecz produced and recorded the track, renewing his connection with the band after The Gang’s All Here. Dale “Rage” Resteghini directed the video. A signed seven-inch edition is also being offered, limited to 500 copies worldwide, alongside the digital release.

For a lineup change, a recognisable cover is a direct way to invite comparison: listeners arrive with the song already in mind and can concentrate on how the new combination approaches it. The recording gives fans something concrete to hear before the return to live work.

The next test comes on stage

The announced 2027 shows begin on 5 March in Rancho Mirage, with later appearances including Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple. The official announcement lists the confirmed dates. Sargent has also said that he has been adding demo vocals to new material, although this announcement does not set an album release date.
