Pianist and composer Chad Lawson released hush on September 11 through Decca Records US. The ten-track album centres its presentation on space, silence and restraint.

A video for the gentle undoing accompanied the release. The label describes a visual movement from a bedroom setting toward sunlit woodland, connecting the film with the album campaign’s imagery.

A title drawn from a recording moment

Lawson’s account places the origin of the title at London’s Angel Studios, while listening back to an orchestral take. He describes becoming interested in the quiet that remained after the final note.

That story explains the artist’s chosen frame for the record. It does not establish a therapeutic effect or promise that the same recording will create the same experience for every listener.

Listen to space as part of a phrase

With music presented around restraint, one useful point of attention is the relationship between a note and what follows it. A pause can belong to a continuing phrase, rather than simply mark an absence of activity.

The complete album and its associated video offer different ways into that idea. The recording supplies a sequence of pieces; the film adds its own visual setting. Keeping those formats separate allows each to contribute without making the images a literal explanation of every musical detail.

Released: September 11, 2026 · Decca Records US · 10 tracks.
