Argentine trio TRÍADA released its debut album, Exuvia, on October 23 through Verve and Mercury Records. The eleven-track collection was made with producer Didi Gutman and follows the group’s earlier interpretations of other writers’ songs.

The members are Diamela Spina on percussion and vocals, Aylen Reynoso on guitar, and Julia Percowicz on vocals. The announcement places their acoustic approach alongside bossa nova, candombe, tango and chacarera, with the album title referring to the shedding of an outer skin.

Preview material included Clara and an interpretation of C. Tangana’s Un Veneno. The latter also appeared in the Recording Academy’s ReImagined performance series.

From interpreting songs to shaping a debut

For a group first encountered through covers, an album containing its own writing changes the point of attention. The question becomes how familiar ensemble habits—shared vocals, guitar accompaniment and percussion—carry an individual compositional voice across a longer sequence.

The named rhythmic traditions provide orientation, but they should not be used as interchangeable labels. Following the pulse and guitar part in a particular track is a more concrete way to explore the references than assigning the entire album one broad category.

The statement also announces UK and Spanish appearances, including a November 18 London Jazz Festival performance supporting Charlotte Dos Santos. The linked artist information is the appropriate reference for current live details and the full album program.
