The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Its official class announcement says the recorded ceremony will debut on ABC and Disney+ in December.
The Performer category includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan. That list identifies the honorees; it should not be read as a promise that every named artist will deliver a live set at the ceremony.
A class extends beyond the front of the stage
The other awards broaden the picture. Early Influence honorees include Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons. Musical Excellence recognizes Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin, while Ed Sullivan receives the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Those different categories give listeners several routes into music history. A singer’s recording, a producer’s contribution and a television platform can shape how music reaches people through different kinds of work. The ceremony’s structure makes room for those separate responsibilities within the same institution.
Turn the class into a listening question
A useful way to explore this year’s honorees is to follow one connection rather than create an undifferentiated playlist of famous tracks. Start with a credited writer or producer, then investigate how that person’s work appears alongside different performers.
Another route is to compare the settings in which music circulated. A televised performance and a studio record preserve different aspects of an artist’s work. Keeping those settings clear gives a historical selection more meaning than treating every surviving upload as an equivalent document.
As the ceremony approaches, separate the confirmed event date, the class of honorees and any subsequently announced guests or performances. The class announcement establishes the first two; a full show program requires its own confirmation.
