Hanson Performs Bee Gees’ “Too Much Heaven” Acapella, Sans Mics, at Sydney Opera House!

At their concert in the iconic Sydney Opera House, Hanson delighted audiences with a surprise acapella rendition of the Bee Gees’ “Too Much Heaven,” performing without microphones for an intimate musical experience. Post their main performance, the Hanson brothers showcased their vocal prowess and harmony in this stripped-back version.

This acapella act was particularly meaningful for Hanson, harking back to their roots as an acapella group in the early ’90s. The Sydney Opera House, known for its exceptional acoustics, served as the ideal venue for such a performance. The video capturing this moment has attracted over 2.5 million views on YouTube.

Nicole Thompson, a dedicated Hanson enthusiast who shared the video, highlighted that this special encore was a rare treat during the String Theory Tour, promoting their album named after the tour. Fans felt especially privileged by this unexpected performance.

The String Theory project saw Hanson’s songs arranged with the Prague Symphony, under David Campbell’s guidance, blending their pop sound with orchestral elements and infusing acapella pieces, reminiscent of their 1997 live acapella version of “MMMBop” at the Music Awards.

The acapella performance of “Too Much Heaven” was met with acclaim, with fans admiring Hanson’s ability to honor the Bee Gees and Australia’s musical heritage. Taylor Hanson expressed the band’s intent to pay tribute to the Bee Gees, another famous brother trio. Although the Sydney Opera House performance was unique, Hanson has also performed “Too Much Heaven” acapella at other significant venues, including London’s O2 Arena and Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh.
