Experience the Heartwarming Duet of Art Garfunkel and His Son Spanning Generations
Art Garfunkel, famously known as one half of the American folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel, performed heartfelt covers of “Devoted To You” and “Let It Be Me” by The Everly Brothers with his son, James Garfunkel, in 2019.
James Garfunkel, also called Art Garfunkel Jr., was born in 1990 and has joined his father on stage multiple times, including a notable performance at the US Open Tennis Tournament in 2002 when he was just 12 years old.
Phil Everly, a member of The Everly Brothers, passed away in 2014. To honor him, Art and James Garfunkel dedicated their performances of “Devoted To You” and “Let It Be Me” to his memory. These songs were among the Everly Brothers’ hits in the 1950s and 1960s.
Art Garfunkel’s 2019 tour began in January in America and concluded in November in Germany, with performances in various venues across the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany.
Before performing, Art Garfunkel introduced his son Arthur Jr. as his “pride and joy,” sharing his admiration for his son’s vocal talent. They then embraced and sang into the same microphone, accompanied by guitarist Tab Laven and keyboardist Paul Beard. Below is a video of Art Garfunkel, his son James, and Art’s wife Kim singing “Feelin’ Groovy.”
Their performance was warmly received by the audience, who cheered and clapped enthusiastically. The recording of this live performance, dated May 12, 2019, in Napa, has been widely shared on social media, with fans expressing that the performance stirred deep emotions and was uplifting.
Art Garfunkel is scheduled to tour again in 2022 in the United States and Europe, including Germany, The Netherlands, and Denmark. It is not yet confirmed if Art Jr. will join him on this tour.
