Veronika Zhilina, a highly skilled young Russian figure skating prodigy.

Among all Olympic sports, figure skating stands out for its beauty and expressiveness. While mastering the technical elements of a program is extremely challenging, the skaters glide across the ice with such grace that it appears effortless. The very best skaters do more than just master jumps, spins, and tricks.

They also convey deep emotion through the music they skate to. If you’re looking for an embodiment of this art, look no further than Veronika Zhilina. Veronika, a Russian figure skater, delivered a stunning performance to Alexandra Burke’s rendition of “Hallelujah,” which quickly went viral.

This performance is one of the most emotional and moving you will ever witness, made all the more remarkable because Veronika was only ten years old at the time.

Veronika Vladislavovna Zhilina was born on May 15, 2008, in Arkhangelsk, Russia. She’s already achieved great success in figure skating, having started at a young age. Her mother, Ludmilla, introduced her to the ice when she was just three years old.

From a young age, Veronika displayed a natural talent for skating. Fortunately, she wasn’t alone on this journey for long, as her younger sister Alena soon joined her. Pursuing a career in figure skating requires intense training, but both sisters were eager to commit, driven by their passion for the sport.

The family remained in Arkhangelsk until 2018, when they relocated to Moscow to train under renowned Russian figure skating coaches Sergei Dudakov, Sergei Rozanov, and Eteri Tutberidze. Just a year later, Veronika competed in the junior category of the Russian Younger Age Championships and took home first place. She proved her skill once again by defending her title the following year.

During this period, coach Sergei Rozanov transitioned to the Academy Angels of Plushenko, and Veronika, along with her sister Alena, followed. There, they trained alongside another rising star, Alexandra Trusova. Veronika has continued to impress in competitions across Russia and seems poised for international success.

Judging by her performance to “Hallelujah,” Veronika will excel in competitions, particularly in the artistic expression category. As she steps onto the ice, she holds a light that she gracefully waves above her head, creating a beautiful connection between herself and the audience, who join in by lighting up their own lights.

She places her light on the ice and begins her performance, which is nothing short of breathtaking. Veronika glides effortlessly across the ice, almost as if she’s one with it. Her white dress complements her blonde hair, and her angelic presence is undeniable. Her skating is impeccable, with fluid transitions that seem almost ethereal.

The choreography perfectly mirrors the mood of the song, creating an unforgettable experience. It’s a performance you cannot afford to miss. And if you’re curious about her sister’s talent, check her out too – it seems both Zhilina sisters are destined for extraordinary careers in figure skating.
